After the international journey of Vulnerare, we’re ready to spingere ancora oltre: La Soglia di Basalto, a feature film that takes seriously what happens when nature, artificial intelligence and consciousness stop being abstract ideas and start colliding in the real world.

The film

Pantelleria, 2035.

Leda Ishiguro, a bio-android ecologist, arrives on the island to test an AI designed to restore collapsing ecosystems. But Pantelleria doesn’t respond to commands. Winds that change direction without preavviso, plants that escape every model, microclimates that behave like organisms.

Leda realises that control is a fragile illusion. Nature isn’t something you dominate — it’s something you interpret, listen to, and respect.

The author

Sergio Mario Illuminato – Director, screenwriter and transdisciplinary artist with training between Rome, London and New York. He has worked across visual arts, cinema, philosophy and theatre, collaborating with RAI and international institutions. His projects have been awarded in European and global festivals. His work probes the link between body, memory and technology with a radical eye on the present.
